Chris Keating's 2021 Welcome Letter

Welcome to 2021 FSTEC!

Technology has never been more important to the restaurant industry than it is now. Need to do more off-premise? Technology is here to help. Battling labor problems? Don’t call the HR department, call the IT department. Make a brand statement? Yep, tech does that too.

That’s why we had a little fun with our theming this year, the aliens saying, “Tech Me to Your Eater.” Think of all the ways that is true. Technology infiltrates every part of the restaurant experience now. It helps diners find your brand, both in terms of awareness and geography. It helps get food to the restaurant. It plays a role in transforming ingredients to dishes. Whether a server is taking the order, or the guest is at home with his phone, tech is there. From payment to delivery – is there any part of the dining experience that doesn’t involve technology?

And in some cases, tech even gets involved in the health measures your brands are taking to make restaurants safe. In many ways, a conference is like a restaurant – our guests come, we are serving food, we are socializing. And like you, we have taken several health measures to make our guests feel comfortable.

The Gaylord Texan is owned by Marriott, which has been leading the way in hotel safety and sanitation. And we have added additional measures to ensure you feel safe and comfortable here. As a reminder, we are asking all attendees to be either vaccinated against COVID-19 OR have a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of travel.

You can add your proof of vaccination or negative test here.

Please contact events@winsightmedia.com if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We look forward to seeing you in Dallas soon!

Enjoy FSTEC!

Sincerely,
